As a general rule, unless exempted, a visa is required for foreign nationals who wish to come to France. It must be requested before departure from the French embassy or consulate in the country where the application is submitted (usually the country of residence).
For stays of less than 90 days, the required visa is a short-stay visa. In the case of Reunion (a non-European territory), France issues national short-stay visas.
To find out the required documents for a visa application based on your nationality, please refer to the French government’s visa assistant.
